The beginning of the new decade will be finding PAOK in a process of trying to create a competitive and strong team. With many players that had transferred from Aetos Thessaloniki (Tsigkos, Batzios, Petrogiannis, Tsompanakis, Karamveris) and acquired leadership roles (like the captain to be Yannis Politis), Alekos Paraskevas who played with the PAOK jersey for 14 consecutive seasons, as well as Manthos Katsoulis, the first big player after Ekonomou, who dominated the game.
Despite the fact that PAOK returned to European competitions amidst this ten year span, to play four games against the famous Bosna Sarajevo and the French Le Mans, what followed wasn’t up to par. And it was clearly depicted in the turmoil PAOK had to go through during the 1976-77 season. During that time, PAOK had to beat Democritus in a barrage game (66-53 with 28 points by Manthos Katsoulis) to keep the A’ National category.
