Pantelis Boutsos was born in Thessaloniki on November 5, 1973, and became involved in basketball and coaching from a very early age. He began his coaching career at just 21 years old with Aeschylus, before moving on to work with Mandoulides Schools.
From 2005 to 2009, he worked at Aris, collaborating with Ilias Zouros, Andrea Mazzon, and Gordon Herbert, who later became a FIBA World Cup champion as head coach of the German national team.
His first tenure with PAOK lasted from 2009 to 2017. As an assistant coach to Soulis Markopoulos, he contributed to the team finishing 3rd in the Greek League in three different seasons (2010–11, 2013–14, 2014–15).
He returned to Aris for the 2019–20 season and then joined Iraklis (2020–22), where he also served as head coach for approximately one and a half years (2021–23), both in the Greek Basket League and the Elite League.
During the 2023–24 season, he was the head coach of Aias Evosmou, and in the summer of 2024, he returned once again to PAOK’s coaching staff. On March 2, 2026, he was appointed as head coach of PAOK.
He holds a degree in Economics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as studies in Industrial & Organizational Psychology and Personal Selling from the University of Rotterdam.
Through scholarship programs, he has attended coaching programs with the Memphis Grizzlies (under head coach Hubie Brown), as well as NCAA programs with the Memphis Tigers (coach John Calipari) and the University of Kentucky (coach Orlando “Tubby” Smith).
Throughout his career, he has participated in the ULEB Cup Final (2006) and the EuroLeague Top 16 (2006–07 & 2007–08) with Aris, as well as in the Round of 16 of the EuroCup and the Basketball Champions League, and the FIBA Europe Cup Final with PAOK.
