With smiles, a special visit and a totally different but very beautiful way, PAOK’s practice schedule for this week began in view of the game against Panathinaikos.
The Special Workshop for the Professional Training and Education of Kilkis paid a visit to the team during practice offering a special and different tone. Our special guests came to the PAOK Sports Arena in the framework of the school’s interactive program, took a tour of the gym and the basketball team’s museum and spent a lot of time playing basketball, waiting for the big moment of meeting with PAOK’s players.
The presence of the PAOK’s players in the Arena’s main hall incited excitement, many photographs as well as surprises, since all the members of the Workshop (students, teachers and companions), had created handcrafted keychains with PAOK’s emblem which were given to each one of the players. The surprises were not over, with three handcrafted PAOK banners presented to the technical director of PAOK BC, Nikos Stavropoulos, coach Ilias Papatheodorou and captain Vangelis Margaritis.
The kids’ smiles were the biggest reward for the players and the best gift for the beginning of the week. The comment by Thodoris Zaras is spot on (who also received a handcrafted keychain with his name on it): “It was a really beautiful surprise. We offered these kids some joy. It’s a part of our job anyway. We want to show people that these kids have nothing different from anyone else. I hope we get to have visits like this one in the future at our gym, but also motivate our fellow humans to come close to these kids”.
Today’s visit of the Kilkis Special Workshop is even more meaningful, having taken place on the World Autism Awareness Day.
