Aaron Best is the player to complete the six men foreigners’ roster for PAOK and I expected to arrive in Thessaloniki on Friday to begin preparing with the team.
Up to a few days earlier, the Canadian guard was participating the pre-season camp of his country’s National Selection and in his first comments as a player of PAOK, he talks about the World Championship held in China, as well as about his thoughts on the upcoming season at the PAOK Sports Arena.
How hard was it for you to accept PAOK’s offer?
Not at all! I’m excited to getting to know the Greek culture and be a part of the PAOK family.
You have experience from playing for the Basketball Champions League. What are your thoughts on the competition?
I’m ready for the challenge. I have played for the BCL with both Juventus and Ludwigsburg and it’s a great opportunity to play against great teams from all over Europe. I think that our participation in the competition will be giving us the opportunity to present the team at its best.
It’s understandable that it was a difficult moment for you to not make the final cut with the Canadian National team in view of the World Championship in China. On the other hand, you got the chance to sign with PAOK and get to meet with your new team mates at an earlier stage…
It’s always nice to represent your country. Canada is a very talented team so I’m not disappointed for not making the final roster, but I rather continue supporting my team mates. In a way though it kind of accommodated me to not be in China, since I was able to immediately sign with PAOK.
Can you make a prediction about the tournament?
There is too much talent in this tournament and one of the strong teams is the National team of Greece. It’s going to be very interesting.
How would you describe yourself on and off court?
I love basketball and I love my family!
Is there a message you would like to send to the PAOK fans?
I’m ready! I can’t wait to start working!
