
PAOK was the big favorite for the Greek Cup and proved that on the court. Won with characteristic ease the semi-final and the final game and hence won the second Cup trophy in the team’s history. In the semi-final game of the tournament, that took place on March 4, 1995, PAOK beat Aris 80-63, despite the score being tied 37-37 at half-time. However, PAOK had no match in the second half, having Bane Prelevic as its best player. Sakis Laios was the head coach of the team, with Giorgos Tsobanakis being a technical advisor and the team roster for the semi-final was the following: Prelevic 29 (5/8 threes), Mamatziolas 11 (1), Galakteros 10 (1), Korfas 8 (1), Boudouris 7 (1), Bullard 7 (1), Savic 6, Rentzias 2, Balogiannis, Tsekos.
PAOK played against Panionios in the big final, who had Dusan Ivkovic in its bench. PAOK was leading 37-30 at half-time and reached a ‘clean’ 72-53 victory, with Sakis Laios having used the following players: Prelevic 27 (4), Savic 21, Bullard 6, Korfas 5 (1), Boudouris 3, Mamatziolas 3 (1), Giannoulis 3, Galakteros 2, Rentzias 2 and Balogiannis.
THE ROAD TO THE FINAL FOUR
The road to the Greek Cup final four that took place in Lamia was an easy one, although of a historical significance, being the first time the said tournament was held in that format.
PAOK started the tournament in Athens against Sportig, winning 75-71 and qualifying for the next round, the final destination before the final four. PAOK plays against Kronos, a B’ division team, wins 99-51 and seals the ticket to Lamia, where a triumphant outcome awaits.
