Lewis: «Playing for 35 minutes is not enough»

JeQuan Lewis represented PAOK’s players at the post-game conference following the end of the game against Besiktas for the 1st day of the 4th group of the Basketball Champions League.

The American guard, who was the top scorer for PAOK with 19 points, lamented on the team’s collapse in the last five minutes.

“We tried hard for 35 minutes and we were in the game, playing as we should have. We didn’t do that however in the last 5 ones and got to lose the first game of the competition”.

About the last minutes: «I can’t explain that. I think there were plays in the last minutes when we did not react properly, we are still at the beginning of the season, I can’t give any other explanation».

About whether tonight’s game resembled the one against Ionikos: «It’s kind of different for me. The team made some turnovers, missed some shots and we definitely hadn’t the focus we should have».

About Besiktas having a much larger budget: «I don’t care about that, I believe in the team and my team mates. At the end of the day, when you come out on the floor, you don’t think about budgets. We come out to fight at every game. We need to learn how to keep playing for 40 minutes. Playing a good 35 minutes at this level is not enough, the game is 40 minutes and we need to bring the things we work during practice on the floor».
