The serious problems of the 2007-09 two year period were permanently over; when in the summer of 2009 PAOK has once again a Court appointed administration (with Miltiadis Kanotas serving as President), with Nikos Stavropoulos leading the new endeavor from the position of the team's technical director. He chose Soulis Markopoulos, who had been awarded best coach of the previous season in Greece, to fill in the bench. In a very short period of time, PAOK found its way and in a rather spectacular manner.

In the beginning of the 2009-10 season, PAOK succeeded a historical victory against Aris, with a record margin of 35 points (83-48), that remains the largest one in the history of the games between the two teams up to today. And next season, although having to overcome many difficult moments, PAOK returns to rank 3rd in the Greek League, at the same time gaining the right to compete to win a return to the Euroleague, although through a very tough preliminary round of games. The 3rd place of 2011 was the beginning of an upward course and proved to be PAOK's favorite habit in the years to come.
