PAOK mateco BC announces Fotis Takianos as the head coach of the team, until the end of the 2023-24 season. We welcome the last season’s ΄΄coach of the year΄΄ of BasketLeague, to our big PAOK family.

It’s going to be the third time that Fotis Takianos will be presence in PAOK, but with a different function. On summer 1993, he arrived as a transfer from Makedonikos and wore the black and white jersey for the first time, while he instantly started participating in team’s preparation. Meanwhile, throughout that season he also won Korac Cup. However, he didn’t manage to participate much because of a serious injury he had. In the season 2006-07 he returned as an assistant coach with Bane Prelevic on his side and after that with Kostas Pilafidis. So, he is now ready for his third time in our team, as a head coach.

Fotis Takianos was born in Thessaloniki, April 14th 1969. He started his basketball career from Makedonikos and also played with: PAOK, Aris, MENT, KAOD and Siatista.

As a coach, he cooperated with the technical staff of Iraklis, AEK and PAOK, before him being the head coach for Panorama which he led from third division to A1 in the season 2007-08. He also associated with Rethymnon, KAOD, OFI, Doxa Lefkadas, Trikala and during the last season with Larisa which he led in the Final Four of the Greek League and gained the title ΄΄coach of the year΄΄ .

Fotis Takianos had not only worked in Greece but also in teams from Kosovo, Cyprus and Qatar.
