In a ‘thriller’ game, PAOK suffered an unexpected home defeat (73-75) to Ifaistos Limnou for the 19th day of the betshop Basket League, following a buzzer beater by Rolands Freimanis.
Ifaistos began the game better and found many points from offensive rebounds, gaining a 5-10 lead which then became 14-20. PAOK found score with Milenko Tepic and hence the first quarter was completed with the guests being ahead 18-23.
Ifaistos dominated the beginning of the second quarter and succeeded in gaining a +12 lead (25-37). At that point, PAOK upped the intensity of his defensive game and with Phil Goss leading the offense, succeeded in closing in to two points (38-40) at the end of the first half.
A three by Linos Chrysikopoulos tied the game (41-41) at the beginning of the third quarter, but PAOK did not have solutions when attacking and Ifaistos was once again leading by 6 (48-54) at 30’.
In the last quarter, PAOK tied the game (63-63) with big threes by Phil Goss and William Hatcher and the game was decided in last seconds. Ifaistos got to lead 69-73 with 42’’ to go, however, two sets of free throws made by Thodoris Zaras and Phil Goss tied the game once again with only 10’’ on the clock (73-73). In the last offensive play for the guests, Tyrone Brazelton received at first a block by Vangelis Margaritis, but Rolands Freimanis gave Ifaistos the 73-75 victory scoring with 0.8’’ on the clock.
